CASE STUDY #5: OPTIMIZING AN ORGANIC SEARCH PROGRAM FOR THE TOP 3 SEARCH ENGINES
Problem: An organic search program existed but was not generating the traffic the organization expected. They had a strong brand name and knew that there were thousands of searches each week just on the brand name but very little traffic landing on their site for those specific brand name searches.
Solution: Stop focusing on all other search engines except Google, Yahoo and MSN. With focus on the big three, rather than the top 15 search engines, we would capture 80% of the available traffic by focusing 20% of our effort.
Results: Top 20 rankings increased by 15% and, more importantly, traffic increased by 32% in just 6 short weeks. The objective was achieved and the organic search program began to head in the right direction.
